After holding 2 open beta tests, En Masse announced that Tera would be launching on Xbox One and Playstation 4 on April 3, 2018. As with most game launches these days, En Masse will be selling founder’s packs with the game’s release ranging from $29.99 and up. The base game itself will be free to play though.
Given the action oriented controls I suspect Tera will be a success on consoles. It’s unfortunate though that the PC version isn’t cross platform compatible with consoles.

Out of Mordor and into Mirkwood, that’s just the way it goes for the Middle-earth adventurer. With Tuesday’s Update 22: Legacy of the Necromancer, Lord of the Rings Online has opened up one of the most iconic and expansive zones that the game has seen for quite some while.
Players can take flight to the reaches of Northern Mirkwood, as made famous by the journeys of Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit. It is here that they will go through two new chapters in the epic story while visiting the Elves and spiders in Mirkwood and the rebuilt Lake-town in the Dale-lands. The update contains over 125 new quests and deeds, as well as a special series of endgame stronghold quests that will go live on March 14th.
TERA has some fantastic news coming at you : After several months of tech testing, the console beta is almost here!
“The Open Beta for TERA on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 computer entertainment system will run from March 9, 2018 at 6:00 a.m. Pacific (PST) until March 12, 2018 at 12:00 a.m. Pacific (PST). PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players will have access to the Beta by visiting the PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store beginning on March 9.”
En Masse says Bluehole “has taken great care to adapt the vast world of TERA and its best-in-genre action combat to console platforms. […] Consoles need a solid MMORPG and TERA is prepared to deliver.” Well now, that’s a lot more confidence than the teams had a few months back! Formal launch on both is still expected later this spring.
Will you heed the Call of the Deep in Blade & Soul when it launches February 7th? If you do, it might be for the new 6v6 battleground on the way. It’s called Nova Core, and it’s not your average PvP matchup.
“Nova Core is a large 6v6 battleground where you’ll work with your team to guide massive orbs of energy, known as Pulsars, towards your own ‘Gateway’ to gain points,” NCsoft explains. “There are two main paths leading to each team’s goal from the center point, and throughout the battle Pulsars will spawn in the center and travel along a path towards either Gateway. The key to guiding the Pulsars to your Gateway lies at the three Switches along each path. This being a battleground, the added difficulty of course comes in the form of players entering combat to stop Switch changes, misdirecting away from their own changes, and racking up the points that come from kills.”
The megaboss Vell is set to descend on Black Desert this weekend, so what better time than now to play? But Bree, you say, I don’t own Black Desert, and it’s still technically a buy-to-play game!
Get thee to Steam, I reply, for there it is free the whole weekend – in fact, it’s free as of right now! We go back and forth like that for a while, and then you just skip ahead to the press release blurby.
“Starting today, Black Desert Online is free to test on Steam as part of the Steam Free Weekend. Curious new players can freely explore the massive open world of this critically acclaimed MMORPG that has already captured the imagination of millions of fans around the globe. Try out the highly valued character creator or dive straight into combat.”
If you do decide to buy the game, you’ll find it’s half off just for you, no matter which version you pick. The free-play period ends of January 28th at 4 p.m. EST. Vell will be waiting to sink your boat in the Margoia Sea at noon on Sunday, which won’t give you much time. Go get ’em.
When you hear a name like “Fang Lair,” your first thought is probably similar to that of Indiana Jones: “Snakes. Why’d it have to be snakes?” But Elder Scrolls Online is juking around your expectations here, because its upcoming dungeon is anything but a casual stroll through slithering reptiles.
In fact, Fang Lair is an abandoned Dwarven fortress from way back in the first Elder Scrolls game, Arena. ZeniMax is repurposing this location to be an underground complex full of necromancers and their undead abominations. One necromancer in particular, Orryn the Black, is attempting to raise a giant zombie dragon, and it’s up to players to put a swift end to that.
“Fang Lair is a location people haven’t seen since The Elder Scrolls: Arena,” said Dungeon Lead Mike Finnigan. “However, in that game, players saw it in a very different light. In The Elder Scrolls Online, we wanted to expand upon the lore behind it, and we thought this was a chance to really flesh out its story.”
Piggybacking off the news that Aion KR is going Free-to-Play, Aion NA has announced that their next update, the Heart of Frost, is coming to Aion on January 10th. Ereshkigal, a real-world goddess of the land of the dead, has assembled her armies in the now-icy core of the Abyss. Aion: Heart of Frost will see you facing off against her armies with all your might.
The Divine Fortress fight will have players and their allies fighting to reclaim the fortress from Ereshkigal’s icy army. Though as Ereshkigal’s forces grow in number, that isn’t the worst of player’s woes.
Ereshkigal’s troops rise from the dead, as Harvesters continue to experiment with Drana. As long as Ereshkigal’s forces can rise again and again, she will simply never be defeated, by virtue of sheer numbers alone.
