Perfect World Entertainment and Cryptic have been pimping the heck out of the upcoming Rise of Tiamat module for Neverwinter, the fifth episode in the season of dragons storyline. While the module itself doesn’t land on official servers until November 18th. Spoiler: Thar be dragons!
Don’t forget that Neverwinter‘s April Fools’ Day event returns this Thursday for a reprise lasting until the Rise of Tiamat launch.
The famous Sergeant Knox, Neverwinter NPC questgiver extraordinaire, will be available as a special companion. For a short time, players can bid on one of these purple-quality companions through the auction house. The catch is that there will only be five such Sergeant Knox companions put up for auction during this event, which means that only five (or fewer) players in the game will own one, at least for the time being. As a gold sink, this will undoubtedly be quite effective to suck some of the excess money out of the economy. This special auction will take place from September 11th through the 14th.
If it’s Neverwinter, it must be summer, right? Now that you’ve stopped groaning, you might be interested to hear that the D&D MMO is kicking off its summer festival tomorrow.
Cryptic is building on the previous year’s festival by adding more content to the event. There will be a new summer-themed zone with daily quests, a water battle, new profession tasks, and a new dungeon for the web game Sword Coast Adventures. Players can try to grab a reward that they missed from last year or strive for one of the new prizes, such as the piñata or the Sunite Steed.
The summer festival will run from Thursday, August 21st, through Thursday, September 11th.
Perfect World Entertainment and Cryptic Studios have announced the fourth module for Neverwinter. Called “Tyranny of Dragons“, the new content expansion is scheduled for release this August. No further details were released but we’ll keep you posted.
“This is a pivotal year for Dungeons & Dragons and we are thrilled to have Perfect World and Cryptic on board to make Neverwinter a key part of the D&D experience as we transition to the future,” said Nathan Stewart, Dungeons & Dragons Brand Director. “The new Tyranny of Dragons module is just the beginning of us bringing our new serialized entertainment to the fans of both tabletop and digital games.”
Neverwinter players have a lot to look forward to on their next log in with the commencement of the summer event. New quests, items and rewards are offered to participants.
The Summer Event Festival starts today (Thursday, August 29th 2013) and goes until Wednesday, September 18th 2013.
Rewards players can earn: Players could earn rare Sunite weapons, companions, mounts, fashion items, fireworks, or one of our favorite, Bottomless Waterskins – and more! Logging in every day and completing dailies could earn you a Tribute to Sune; redeem them at the Tribute Store to retrieve special event rewards.
Perfect World and Cryptic have announced a new Neverwinter feature named “Call to Arms“. During these events, players from levels 5-60 will be made aware of a modified skirmish kicking off and will be asked to go and assist Neverwinter‘s forces in pushing back the tides of enemies. Participants have the chance to win dye packs, companions and more.
Players will also be able to queue for Call to Arms at any time when the Event is active. If you are a treasure hunter and are looking to unleash your skills against Neverwinter‘s creatures, then look no further than your queue! Who’s ready to go on the hunt and answer the Call to Arms?
When the first Neverwinter module, Fury of the Feywild, goes live, players will have a new ‘campaign system‘ to explore. The campaign system will require players to work through “projects” in order to unlock new locations within the module.
How do players complete Projects and progress? The Sharandar zone itself will have many repeatable quests that give rewards which players will use in the Campaign System window. Also, players can complete solo instances and the five-man Malabog Castle to speed up progression within the Campaign System. Malabog Castle is unlocked via an early (and relatively quick) Campaign System Project before players are able to enter it. For solo instances, players can acquire a one-time use key that they can acquire while doing repeatable quests in the zone or purchase in game with a new currency that comes from the adventure zone.
